I'm recently updated a rental property of mine located in Beechview, Pittsburgh. My goal was to fix it up and sell it. This house is a very old home... it was built in 1910. So, you can imagine there were quite a few projects I needed to start to fix the place up.
One of the bigger projects was replacing the rear door located in the kitchen. The door was ugly and hard to close. It was not going to look so great to potential buyers. The problem was it was not a straight-forward door replacement. It had a lot of old trim I wanted to maintain, along with a transom above the door. I wanted to keep the transom to allow as much light in the kitchen as possible (it can get very dark in the space).
In this video, I am sharing how I replaced an exterior door from start to finish. I have a few creative ideas that you might work well on your own renovation. Although I professionally remodel bathrooms now, I wanted to remind you all that I didn't start there. I never advise jumping right into a bathroom renovation without first doing other home improvement projects. An exterior door replacement is a great place to start. Many challenges to overcome and pressure to get it done.
