The bathtub is the basic necessity in most bathrooms. It can also be the most daunting when installing for the first time. I’m here to help you with that. I offer the TUB & SHOWER REMODEL IN 7 DAYS OR LESS course, which takes you through, step-by-step, the installation of the bathtub.
Here are some of the highlights of the video:
1: Mark the wall studs referencing the tub flange. It helps maintain levelness.
2: Cut out the drain for the tub. Be sure to measure where the drain is going to be as accurately as you can before making the cut.
3: Tub drain assembly— Hot Tip: Install the tub drain BEFORE installing the bathtub. Makes life so much easier!
4: Protect the plywood/subfloor where the tub is going to be sitting. Add a piece of plastic (i.e. garbage bag) before laying mortar. The mortar is being used to keep the tub in place.
5: When connecting your plumbing to the tub, if you have the access, do it from underneath! It really helps insure a secure connection. Also, add silicone to really make the connection tight!
